Discover Ilse’s story and what drives her in the way she supports others.
〰️ As a lifestyle coach and NEI therapist, specialising in supporting people with rheumatic conditions and Sjögren’s syndrome, I sometimes do things a little differently 〰️
That did not happen by chance. In 2013, I was diagnosed with Sjögren’s syndrome myself. The message I received at the time was: learn to live with the condition. Medication was the way forward, and I was told I could live a “perfectly fine” life with it.
For years, I faithfully took my medication, which was gradually increased as my symptoms worsened. By the end of 2019, I reached the point where I could no longer work. Completely unable to function. That was my turning point.
I started looking for anything other than medication that might help me. And I found it: not a miracle cure, but a combination of factors that helped me start living again instead of merely surviving.
To better support others facing similar challenges—people who are often told that they have little or no influence over their condition—I continued my education and specialised further.
Fortunately, perspectives are shifting. There is growing scientific evidence that lifestyle can influence rheumatic conditions. And rebuilding trust in your body is essential to the healing process—something that still receives too little attention within conventional healthcare. That is why I value initiatives like Health Connectors. They make it easier to discover what possibilities exist beyond conventional healthcare, including complementary, holistic, alternative and integrative approaches. This helps make the search I once had myself—for the right person or approach—more accessible and easier to navigate for others.
I am therefore very happy that Health Connectors has welcomed me into its network, making it easier for clients to find me. Because if I could go from barely being able to stand to living an almost normal life without medication, then I believe that possibility exists for you too.
It is beautiful to see how Ilse has translated her personal experience into her work as a lifestyle coach.
Was your own personal experience also what inspired you to choose this path as a health professional? We would love to welcome you to our network of professionals who, like you, work with passion and authenticity from a broader perspective.
