  • The Epiphora Method

As the founder of Health Connectors and a healthcare consultant, I regularly encounter a wide range of perspectives, methods and possibilities in health and wellbeing. Sometimes, something sparks my curiosity so much that I want to do more than simply explore it โ€” I want to experience it for myself.

The Epiphora Method caught my attention, which is why I decided not just to listen this time, but to experience the method firsthand.

Recently, I was introduced to the Epiphora Method by Hans Timmerman. Hans explained the background of the method and guided me through the exercises, allowing me to experience how they are performed.

    But what lies behind it?

One of the key concepts associated with the Epiphora Method is homeostasis: the body’s ability to continually seek and maintain balance. The autonomic nervous system plays an important role in this process. The sympathetic nervous system is involved in activity and alertness, while the parasympathetic nervous system is more closely associated with rest, recovery and relaxation.

When the regulation of the autonomic nervous system is disrupted, this is sometimes referred to as dysautonomia. The Epiphora Method explores, among other things, the drainage and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, blood and lymph around the brain, as well as their potential relationship with autonomic nervous system function. COโ‚‚ and breathing also play an important role within this approach.

The Epiphora Method combines breathing techniques, posture and movement, focusing on how these bodily processes can be experienced and potentially influenced.

What particularly fascinates me is the interplay between breathing, the nervous system, physical tension and the way we feel.

And that is why I am not going to observe this from the sidelines โ€” I am going to explore it myself.

Over the next two months, I will be applying the method myself and keeping track of my experiences.

What do I notice in my body? Do I observe any changes in my energy levels, sensory processing, recovery or the way I respond to physical and mental demands?

First, experience, observe and see what actually changes.

In approximately two months, I will share my experiences and observations here.

Because sometimes, insight begins with exploring something for yourself.

    To be continuedโ€ฆ

My thanks to Hans Timmerman for sharing his knowledge and introducing me to this method.

At Health Connectors, we believe the future of health does not lie within a single discipline.

By connecting different worlds, we create space for new insights, collaboration and innovation.

That is why we are launching our Health Connectors Workations: workations in the Netherlands and at international locations where our network is active. ๐ŸŒ

We are starting in the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal.

A place where you can work, connect, learn and recharge โ€” while bringing together different perspectives on health.

From a short stay to a longer workation: you choose what works for you.

During your stay, you can join workshops, training sessions and inspiring sessions led by professionals from areas including:

    ๐Ÿ”ธ conventional healthcare
    ๐Ÿ”ธ complementary & alternative care
    ๐Ÿ”ธ integrative health
    ๐Ÿ”ธ lifestyle & prevention
    ๐Ÿ”ธ mental health & wellbeing

A doctor brings a different perspective than a lifestyle professional. A therapist brings knowledge and insights that offer another way of looking at health. A business coach focuses on growth and development, while a startup coach can help turn ideas into new opportunities.

And that is exactly where the power of connection lies.

Not in deciding which perspective is the right one, but in creating space to listen to each other, share knowledge and learn from one another.

With Health Connectors, we are building a network where knowledge, people and perspectives come together โ€” across disciplines and borders.

A workation that is not just about where you work, but about who you meet, what you learn and what you can create together.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Sometimes, you know that something isnโ€™t quite right. Your energy is declining, symptoms keep coming back, or your performance isnโ€™t what it used to be. But where do you start? ใ€ฐ๏ธ

    Dylan looks beyond the symptoms.

  • Health Connectors โžฐ Cynthia

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Behind every question lies a deeper and unique story. ใ€ฐ๏ธ

That is what can make finding the right support for you and your family such a challenge.

Health Connectors brings transparency to this process and creates a connection between people and professionals. For me, this was the main reason for joining this collaboration.

In addition, Health Connectors creates an inspiring space where professionals come together with genuine interest and curiosity, share knowledge and seek meaningful connections with one another.

My name is Cynthia, and at Praktijk Cyn, I welcome you and your child into a safe and peaceful space where you can fully arrive, slow down and feel at ease.

There are moments when life can feel like an intense search, and you lose your connection with yourself, but also with your partner and your child. It is precisely in those moments that I am here to walk alongside you for a part of your journey.

As a holistic therapist and guide, I combine my knowledge and life experience with my intuition.

Where the world often asks you to run faster, I invite you to slow down and feel. Because when you pause and take a step back to look at things together, you create space for the insights needed for change. This is the key to recovery, both physically and mentally.

You are so much more than any trauma, diagnosis or label. But when you feel completely stuck in old patterns and conditioning, moving forward can be incredibly difficult. That is why I am here to help you look beyond these stories. To find answers to the questions you have for yourself and your child.

During my sessions, I also teach you how to intuitively connect with your body. Your body has already responded before your mind was able to formulate an answer. Every person possesses this wisdom, but it is often completely overshadowed by thoughts and beliefs. Together, we work on restoring that connection with your inner knowing.

With great gratitude to the team and the professionals connected to Health Connectors, we can help you and your family find the support that is needed at this moment.

  • Health Connectors โžฐ Mayke

We are incredibly grateful to see more and more professionals and organisations joining us and believing in our mission. Every new collaboration contributes to a strong and diverse network where people can more easily discover the different options available for care and support. Mayke recently became part of our network. Discover her story and learn what drives her in the way she supports people.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Proud to be part of the Health Connectors network ใ€ฐ๏ธ

Iโ€™m Mayke, an orthomolecular therapist and specialist in blood sugar analysis. I mainly support women who feel that their bodies are no longer responding the way they are used to.

Fatigue, low energy, cravings, fluctuations in blood sugar levels, hormonal changes, or the feeling that, despite living a healthy lifestyle, youโ€™re not making any further progress.

A symptom is often the starting point of a search. But before you know what you need, you sometimes first need to understand what is actually happening. Where does the fatigue come from? Why are there so many energy dips? What does your blood sugar tell you? And what role do nutrition, stress, exercise, hormones and recovery play?

Thatโ€™s why I often start with gaining insight. Not by immediately trying to fix something, but by first looking at what the body is showing us. Because when you better understand where your symptoms may be coming from, it also becomes easier to determine which next step is right for you. That is also why Health Connectors appeals to me. Health is rarely about one problem with one solution. Sometimes you need a physiotherapist, sometimes a doctor, and sometimes another specialist. And sometimes you first need more insight to know which direction to take.

I value being part of a network where professionals can complement one another and where people donโ€™t have to spend endless amounts of time figuring out on their own where to turn.

First understand. Then move forward with purpose.

Iโ€™m happy to contribute to that as a professional.

Would you, like Mayke, like to become part of a rapidly growing network of professionals where everything comes together? From conventional to complementary, integrative, holistic and alternative โ€” in the Netherlands and beyond. Together, we bring the many possibilities within care and support together and build a network that continues to grow across borders. Would you like to become part of this? Get in touch with us. Who knows, you may soon become part of our growing network too.

  • Health Connectors โžฐ Ilse

Discover Ilseโ€™s story and what drives her in the way she supports others.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ As a lifestyle coach and NEI therapist, specialising in supporting people with rheumatic conditions and Sjรถgrenโ€™s syndrome, I sometimes do things a little differently ใ€ฐ๏ธ

That did not happen by chance. In 2013, I was diagnosed with Sjรถgrenโ€™s syndrome myself. The message I received at the time was: learn to live with the condition. Medication was the way forward, and I was told I could live a โ€œperfectly fineโ€ life with it.

For years, I faithfully took my medication, which was gradually increased as my symptoms worsened. By the end of 2019, I reached the point where I could no longer work. Completely unable to function. That was my turning point.

I started looking for anything other than medication that might help me. And I found it: not a miracle cure, but a combination of factors that helped me start living again instead of merely surviving.

To better support others facing similar challengesโ€”people who are often told that they have little or no influence over their conditionโ€”I continued my education and specialised further.

Fortunately, perspectives are shifting. There is growing scientific evidence that lifestyle can influence rheumatic conditions. And rebuilding trust in your body is essential to the healing processโ€”something that still receives too little attention within conventional healthcare. That is why I value initiatives like Health Connectors. They make it easier to discover what possibilities exist beyond conventional healthcare, including complementary, holistic, alternative and integrative approaches. This helps make the search I once had myselfโ€”for the right person or approachโ€”more accessible and easier to navigate for others.

I am therefore very happy that Health Connectors has welcomed me into its network, making it easier for clients to find me. Because if I could go from barely being able to stand to living an almost normal life without medication, then I believe that possibility exists for you too.

It is beautiful to see how Ilse has translated her personal experience into her work as a lifestyle coach.

Was your own personal experience also what inspired you to choose this path as a health professional? We would love to welcome you to our network of professionals who, like you, work with passion and authenticity from a broader perspective.

  • Health Connectors โžฐ Patricia

Discover Patriciaโ€™s story and what inspires the way she supports people.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ Good guidance and care start with the person ใ€ฐ๏ธ

Beyond diagnosis, but also beyond titles, registrations, diplomas or visibility.

Looking at the person behind the behaviour, beneath the patterns and the stories surrounding them. Making genuine contact and exploring together how a request for support can become an opportunity for growth.

Insights can bring a lot. Understanding, moving beyond shame and guilt. And from there, being able to move forward with new behaviours.

That cannot be achieved through talking alone.

Connection is the foundation of and a prerequisite for growth. A conscious connection between body, brain and mind, with attention to context and personal history.

This applies to both the person receiving support and the professional providing it.

Only then can people make conscious choices that support their wellbeing.

    ๐ŸŒฑ

Meaningful encounters show us what suits us and help us gain clarity about what we stand for.

When Martine from Health Connectors approached me about joining the network, the shared vision immediately felt familiar.

Health Connectors creates space for the person behind the request for support and makes professionals with a broader perspective on health more visible.

Health Connectors brings together professionals who work from their own expertise and share a vision of person-centred support and making possibilities more visible.

By carefully considering what someone needs and which professional connects with those needs.

Personalised support. Exactly how I work.

Joining this network feels like another way of contributing to a movement that is becoming increasingly visible.

Do you, like Patricia, work from a personalised approach? By truly listening to the person behind the request for support and understanding what they need. With attention to the conscious connection between body, brain and mind, as well as the context and personal history of each individual. Because connection is the foundation of and a prerequisite for growth. ๐ŸŒฟ

  • Health Connectors โžฐ Yvonne

For many people, finding the right care and support is not always straightforward. Where do you start? Who can truly help you? And who makes you feel heard and understood?

That is exactly why we believe it is important to make different care and support options visible and accessible.

We are therefore very happy that Yvonne recently joined our network.

Discover her story and what drives her in the way she supports people.

ใ€ฐ๏ธ As a holistic physiotherapist specialising in back, neck and headache complaints, as well as a Health & Wellness Coach, I like to do things a little differentlyใ€ฐ๏ธ

For years, I have seen people who feel stuck. People who are sent from one place to another and eventually fall through the cracks.

How is it possible that people struggle to find their way to care that is right and effective for them?

Fortunately, more and more people are taking matters into their own hands and actively searching for the support they need.

But how do you know where to turn? Who can help you with your specific complaint? And who makes you feel comfortable enough to take that next step with confidence?

That question was answered when I came into contact with Health Connectors.

A network where health professionals come together. Through a personal conversation and a carefully designed questionnaire, you gain insight into different care and support options that align with your needs and situation. This makes your search more manageable and helps you more easily discover which possibilities may be right for you.

So, joining Health Connectors and becoming part of this network felt like a natural choice!

Because this is not only an accessible way for you to discover which care and support options may suit your situation. As a practitioner, I also value it when people make informed choices and know what to expect when they come to my practice.

Health Connectors truly lives up to its name: it connects people seeking care and support with professionals who look beyond the complaint itself and are open to a broader perspective on health and support.

Are you a professional who, like Yvonne, believes in a broader perspective on health and support? We would love to invite you to become part of our network.
